Urban Windows
At Urban Windows, the goal is to create immersive and authentic urban soundscapes that help people relax, focus, study, and sleep. From realistic rain ambience and street traffic to calming thunderstorms and cozy nighttime atmosphere recordings. Some videos are designed to capture the peaceful feeling of being safely indoors while the city moves outside your window and other get you right into the action.
All sounds on Urban Windows are real field recorded audio. No stock loops or AI generated sounds here. I personally don’t like the repetition of a 3 second audio clip looping over and over and over and over again. I prefer the randomness you get from a real field recording. That’s why I’m out there sometimes at 2am in my rain soaked shoes recording real sounds.
In a world filled with artificial noise and fast-paced distractions, Urban Windows is dedicated to creating calming online spaces with natural atmosphere, immersive sound design, and relaxing sleep sounds people can return to night after night. I started Urban Windows because I couldn’t find the sounds I like to fall asleep to. So I made them myself and I’m happy to share them with all of you.

Types of Videos
There are two main types of videos you’ll find on Urban Windows.
Backout Timer videos with a video of a scene that eventually fades to black so you can enjoy sleeping without a bright screen waking you up.
The second video is an audio only field recording with an image at the start of the video to help set the mood.
I tried making daytime videos but they rarely get views so I stopped making them. If people start asking for them in the YouTube comments i’ll start making them again.
About the Channel
Urban Windows was created from a love of rain, nighttime city atmosphere, and street traffic outside my window. I lived for many years in an apartment over a busy street and over the years I grew to love the sounds of street traffic and people talking outside my window. Being all cozy tucked under my covers with the windows open falling asleep to the sound of the city was one of my favorite things. I couldn’t find sounds like this anywhere so I started a personal collection of sounds on YouTube so I could listen to them when I wanted. Fast forward several years and it turns out i’m not the only crazy one who loves urban soundscapes. There are lots of us out there :)
The YouTube channel has grown into a community of people who use these immersive urban ambience videos to relax, focus, study, and fall asleep. I think it’s so cool that these videos are helping others as much as they’ve been helping me.
